Amanda Weaver

“I like to spend a long time working on my portraits, often for weeks, even months. Sometimes I wake up in the night and plan what I’m going to do when I get to Art Explorers.”

Amanda has a calm and kind demeanor that she brings to all her artwork as well as her interactions with people. She is very focused on her art and has a very clear, preconceived idea of where she’s going with any piece of work. Her deep love of music, especially R&B and Motown, has inspired many of her large-scale portraits. These are done with Prismacolor sticks using multiple layers of blended colors. She is incredibly patient and enjoys returning to the same work repeatedly until they are perfect. Amanda is also drawn to architectural themes and has produced many images of seaside villas. Often, following the completion of a very time consuming portrait, Amanda will break free and experiment with some radically different visual idea, usually of abstract nature.
