Art Explorers, Inc. is a nonprofit creative arts program in Fort Bragg, California, on the North Coast, that primarily serves adults with developmental disabilities. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation.

“Our mission is to provide a fun, nurturing, non-judgmental, and artistically stimulating environment for creativity to thrive.”

Art is a universal language without definite rules or restrictions, and therefore is open to anyone. The studio is an uplifting magical place! Our philosophy is rooted in total respect for the individual and the core belief that all people have a unique artistic voice.

Creating art together gives people a sense of purpose, and promotes camaraderie. We’ve seen how important personal expression is to our artists. Our program has helped to improve the self-esteem of every participant, and offers a pathway to inclusion into the wider community.

Our art openings are a wonderful avenue for recognition and give our artists a great sense of pride and excitement. We connect our artists with the greater Mendocino Coast arts community by facilitating the exhibition and sale of their artwork in our studio and online and at local galleries and businesses. We reach out into the broader art world by entering art competitions and have been accepted into national art exhibits. Our artists’ work is in private collections worldwide– from Japan to Europe.

Art transforms lives, and opens the window to the deepest expressions of the human spirit.
