Born and raised in Mendocino County, Amanda attended Pine Ridge School in Williston, VT in 1996 where she first began making ceramics and drawing. Her carefully planned portraits of musicians and animals; studies of architecture and natural landscapes, are drawings on paper she makes by layering different colors in colored pencil. She also selectively incorporates gilding into compositions and paints with both acrylic and watercolor. Although her time at the studio is usually planned in advance, she is always open to learning new techniques and to drawing themes that she has not explored.
