George Kossivas

The first time I saw my art for sale, it felt unreal!

George Kossivas was a beloved artist here at the studio. He was born in Glendale in 1964 but was a resident of Fort Bragg at the time of his passing. George grew up in Los Angeles and went to Hollywood High. He began making art in high school, on and off for many years. Living in Los Angeles gave him the opportunity to see a lot of art and visit many museums. He worked in oil paint, sculpture, and ceramics, but generally preferred drawing. His work is colorful and surreal—he said he made up the patterns as he went along. After living with his family in Navarro, George made the move independently to Fort Bragg. He enjoyed walking around downtown, checking out the other art studios, and swimming at the C.V. Starr Aquatic Center. George was a friendly, talented and thoughtful person who will be missed by many. It was an honor to watch him work and develop his skills as an artist.
